The Rome public prosecutor’s office has requested the indictment of Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis, who has been accused of false accounting over a period of three years, including deals for Victor Osimhen and Kostas Manolas.

According to multiple outlets in Italy, including Sky and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Partenopei patron has been accused of recording fictitious capital gains in the club’s purchase of Manloas from Roma in 2019 and Osimhen from Lille in 2020.

Investigators allege that those two deals generated fictitious capital gains worth a figure in the tens of millions by inflating the value of certain players beyond their actual worth on the transfer market.

Prosecutors Lorenzo Del Giudice and Giorgio Orano have also requested that Napoli, the club, and De Laurentiis’s right-hand man Andrea Chiavelli be put on trial.

According to reports from La Repubblica and Calciomercato.com, this could also have an effect on Napoli from a sporting point of view. Once the prosecutors have gathered the necessary documents, then the FIGC could also step in and inflict sanctions and penalties on the club if appropriate.
